A quick update from the land of procrastination!

This week's Haromoni@ is a lot of fun, featuring the girls promoting the new Wii Fit, which comes with a new balance board. The results of the girls' "balance" age were very surprising, as those I expected to be younger were older and the one with the best balance I would not have guessed (among Takahashi, Kamei, Niigaki, Tanaka, Michishige). Michishige was the only non-surprise there. The girls then compete against each other in a balance Wii Fit tournament, of which we get half in this episode to be continued next week.

There was also a live performance from Ongaku Gatas of "Yattarouze!" Lip-synched. =/ BUT, Yossie seemed to be having way too much fun, what with pulling faces and whatnot (I'm not sure I've ever seen her be as silly as this in a live performance), and Korenaga got face time! Also, the robot dance part is actually longer and I had to laugh out loud at the footwork required for it (check out Korenaga's!). I don't know what's up with OG's lip-synched performances, though... if they're giving them an album (confirmed!) and a concert... they better start performing live. (People said the Narahajimete performances in the 10th Anniversary Concert was synched too....) Veoh should have the episode up soon at some point. Random point, but it's interesting how the Eggs have been distinguished from the Veteran members: Yossie, Konno, Rika, and Mai rock heeled black boots while the Eggs are wearing sneakers. And of the vets, only Mai isn't rocking an unzipped jacket (she didn't get the memo). You can also tell the real players from the "reserve" ones (i.e. non-players): real players are sporting their jersey number on their jackets; non-players have a "G."

In OLD Morning Musume/H!P media: Matthew's Best Hit TV. (More search results from Veoh of just about... well, everyone in the Japanese entertainment industry.) I LOVE this show. Some may recognize the show from the movie Lost in Translation. From that outside-looking-in view, the show was just incomprehensible crack, but really the host Matthew Minami (real name: Takashi Fujii) is amazingly funny, charmy, and witty. Unlike the hosts of Utaban, Matthew isn't cruel about he treats the girls. Granted, he gets some great laughs out of them (at times laughing at them rather than with them) and his Matthew persona has an over-the-top TV dandy personality, but it makes for excellent entertainment. The premise of the show is that Matthew and a guest watch video clips based on a theme and discuss them; the second half the show is usually silly, often embarrassing games (in true Japanese style) for prizes. Great highlights include the Guts Idol challenge with Yaguchi, the Samba/Lambda entrance in Miki's second appearance as solo artist (sexual harassment!), the Morning Musume matching quiz with Yossie, Takahashi's endless singing in her solo appearance, W's antics, Kei's graduation appearance, and so much more! Make sure to watch Goto Maki's appearance and the Renai Dorama (love drama) they do--the ad-libbing battle is hilarious and Maki is good, but that's because she's both really straight-faced and really... well, she knows how to hit below the belt verbally. Awesome time wasters!
