Tangled Web of the Korean Music Industry
May. 8th, 2009 10:49 amAw, it's Kara Generation! In addition to Goo Hara being close to Sunny, SeoHyun, and Tiffany and Nicole being close to HyoYeon, SeoHyun, and Sunny, Kara leader Park GyuRi is close to several of the SNSD members as well.
I've known that Hyo was close to Nicole--she and Tiffany, I think?, were included in Nicole's "Thanks to" (for food, lol?)--but I was surprised to see this floating around:
Left to right, Nicole (with long hair--I almost didn't recognize her in this pic!), HyoYeon, and Lee MinYoung! I couldn't tell you what year this came from, only that it was ganked off of Min's Cyworld page. This is the meeting of three separate talent agencies: SM, JYP, and Daesung (DSP). I'd love to know how these kids all got mixed up. (Min and Hyo presumably through the Winners Dance School, but how does Nicole figure into this?) Though I can see how Nicole and Min would be friends when I think about it, since MinYoung is also bilingual in Korean and English. No wonder Hyo likes to randomly insert English into her speech, what with hanging out with all these bilingual speakers.
I know there are also Wonder Girls-Girls' Generation and Wonder Girls-Kara friendships, but I'm not sure how they all work out. TaeYeon, I think, has the most connections to WG. I think she ran into the WG members often when she was doing all that solo work during the break before "Gee" and WG member SunMi is like the biggest TaeYeon fangirl ever (LOL!).
In short, fangroups should really stop bashing one group over the other because, sheesh, the groups themselves are friends!
(Somewhat related: Junsu of 2PM (JYP) also thanked HyoYeon in his "Thanks to" in 2PM's album sometime last year--to quote the source I saw this from: "he wrote that she forgot to mention him in her thanks to but he is mentioning her in his ^^". I'm curious to know how these two know each other as well. I'm assuming it's somehow dance-related as they both appeared on Star King with fellow 2PM member JaeBeom and choreographer Kim HyeRang, who apparently did the U-Go-Girl dance for Lee HyoRi. Whoo! KHR must've worked with these kids at some point, too, to get them to put on the little showcase with her. I believe Junsu is the one who walks HyoYeon out like, "Aw, yeah, check my girl out!"
Or, basically, everyone knows everyone in the idol world of the Korean music industry, lol.)
OH! I just discovered that the mysterious Choi Gina of JYP who has been leaving HyoYeon requests on Hyo's Cyworld to meet up for some coffee together with Min is the girl featured in 2PM's "10 Out of 10" MV. It's all coming together . . . in like The Chart of the Korean music industry. (Gina and Min were roommates in the States???? They sign messages to each other as "ex-roomie" anyway. Wow, am I fan-stalker much?) Of course, when I think of HyoYeon in relation to "10 Out of 10," I just remember her giving the Gold Misses 2 points of 10 for their efforts to learn how to sing and dance "Gee." LOL.
