People think that Maryss twittering about recording the choreography vid with Rino for SNSD means they filmed SNSD's new MV on the 26th with them. . . but there was probably no way she and Rino could have been in Korea. I think they drove back to LA from SD on the 25th and flying to SK takes how many hours? Then Maryss started twittering about smores and the things she missed out on not being an American high school student, so I'm thinking that Rino and Maryss recorded a video of the choreography to be sent to SK so the girls could learn it. The following week Rino and Maryss were/are in Hawaii and Guam, so I wonder if they'll even make a trip out to SK--or if they already have. I'm confused by SHINee's Arirang interview, which seems to be saying that Rino came out to teach them the "Juliette" choreo personally. Or was that "Replay"?
I also think--if SNSD is going with a new concept--that SM will give them a mid-tempo song, maybe with R&B and hip-hop influences. I only say that because apparently Rino has choreographed three songs for SHINee: "Replay," "Love like Oxygen," and their new song "Juliette." (Tsk tsk @ Arirang for not doing their homework: they refer to Rino as "he.") Those songs are not hard-hitting but have smooth, precise moves that's Rino's dancing. (Kind of random but is it me or does the way SHINee members dance make the routine seem somewhat . . . effeminate? Am I just distracted/influenced by skinny-ass pretty boys grooving or does it really seem kind of effeminate, the way they dance?)
. . . I'm still not sure SNSD as a whole can dance anything like SHINee has done under Rino's work. The closest they've come to something like that is their cover of BoA's "Girls on Top" and "My Name"--and even then they didn't sing "GOT" and lip-synched to "My Name." (LOL, shiny pleather?) Granted, I was impressed how well they moved together. Their rehearsal might let you see it better.
Rino's name being associated with SNSD has thrown people into confusion (as in most are not sure why Rino is choreographing for them), but these girls with their average of 5 years of training have all taken dance lessons that probably emphasized hip-hop. ( Read more... )
