Fuck me, I just lost an epic post of why the soompi wank is killing me. Because I wasn't using Notepad. ARGH.

Anyway, everyone is being butt hurt in soompi about popular members vs. "underrated" members getting to do this and that, but it occurred to me:

Ok, there's supply and demand, as we know, and the popular members will be popular and in demand, ok.

But let's imagine that SNSD really is the group we think it is, built on love and respect, and "NOTHING WITHOUT 9!"

Remember that story on SSTP where HyoYeon was saying that as an unni she feels responsible for paying for all the meals and YoonA was all, "She's always paying for the meals so I feel bad, so I offer to pay once in a while."

Can we put this in a different context? Say that there's a member in a position of power (like the unni who always tries to pay for meals) and she gets all these opportunities. If she loved and respected her fellow members and wanted to see them do as well as she does (POWER OF 9! EQUAL! LOVE THEM ALL!), wouldn't it be nice if she thought, "Hey, member x, I want you to get to experience the chances I get. Manager-oppa, what about sending member x to this?"

This is what kills me about Sunny getting to share that corner with TaeYeon. Sunny was already hosting The M at the time; it was what eventually conflicted with the recording of ChinChin. Did no one think from the beginning, "Hey, we've got an open spot on a corner. HyoYeon does a lot better on radio than she does on camera and she's not doing anything else. Hey, Hyo, would you like to give this a try?"

We don't know if something like this really did happen, but my point is, it wouldn't be taking other members' chances, it would be sharing the opportunities that exist. If that doesn't capture the feelings of "Nothing without 9!!!" and "Power of 9!!" I don't know what would!

RAWR! *is worked up* (And people are trying to tell me that they're not each other's competition . . . )
Putting this in a separate post and am cross-posting it over at [livejournal.com profile] snsd_metacrack:

I kinda-sorta floated the idea of getting a roundtable discussion going on with [livejournal.com profile] just_keep_on and [livejournal.com profile] raingilded. Though a real-time chat would be wonderful, I think it would be a logistical nightmare with all the different time zones. One way we could pull it off, though, is to hold a discussion either here or in the comm in a locked post, which would allow everyone to read each other's responses and respond to them (though it wouldn't be the nice linear conversation that a realtime chat would be), and then get someone awesome like R. to redact and edit things together for presentation so that it's not just COMMENT MADNESS.

That said, would people be interested in doing this? And, if you are, I have no idea what types of questions we would address (SNSD? larger K-pop issues?), so start throwing out ideas, yes? I know AG's got a bunch of questions just waiting to be asked . . . In short what I need to know: a) if you'd participate and b) questions to be asked.
