I'm pretty sure that if I were on drugs, Tokkaekko (2002; subtitled!) would be a fantastic movie. As it is, it's pretty much Hello! Project on drugs: the vibrant colors, the surreal cut out sets, the drag queen maids, the "fathers" who are both mannequins voiced by the same person, Abe who plays both the mothers, and lots of random tidbits like these reoccurring three ducklings and unrelated cut scenes. It's a trip but a pretty fun trip. I meant to watch it a long time ago but I think you have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it.
The film stars both Yossie and Rika, or rather Charmy. Yossie is the eldest daughter in a very poor household who has taken over her mom's duties while her mother is in the hospital. Charmy is the only daughter in a very rich household whose parents are going through a divorce. They end up switching lives for a week, courtesy of magic user Aibon. Chaos and hijinks ensue. Cameos of other H!P members include 5th gen, who play all the little sisters in the poor household, Country Musume, and Yasuda Kei playing a variety of random TV roles. H!P music is liberally used throughout and there are outtakes at the end! It's pretty much unlike any other H!P movie ever put out in that it's in a realm of silliness that doesn't take itself too seriously and thus the amateur acting adds to the charm rather than detracts from anything. If nothing else, it'll give you that "Ah, Japan" feeling.
