Just jotting down thoughts on the movie 불꽃처럼 나비처럼/The Sword with No Name (2009, Korean).

( Brush up on your Korean history before stepping into this--because this movie won't inform you about much of what is going on. )
In conclusion: It wasn't a terrible movie but it may have worked better as a drama. I say this because even though the 2-hour running time felt really long and draggy, the pacing issues could be resolved by shifting the focus of the story onto the politics and history. Sageuks love political machinations! And you could still have a romance story on the side instead of having it dominate the plot. Alas, it wouldn't look as nice as a drama (excluding the poorly done CG effects). All in all, this movie reminded me why I was curious about SooAe's next project in the first place--I do enjoy me some SooAe!
