A Convenient Distraction

(The story is in two parts; the first part can stand alone and needs no follow up, in truth, but I thought that I hadn't answered the challenge correctly and so wrote the second part to tag on. The second part can be ignored but it definitely cannot stand alone. It kind of makes me want to write a whole mini-series in this world. This is probably in the future of some obscure MANGA verse or just extremely AU.)

You know, I can't ever see myself doing a proper requests fic thing or anything like that, but I don't mind taking requests... I just can't promise to ever actually write them or deliver the expected, I guess. It has something to do with my penchant for writing only when I get hit hard with inspiration and/or for twisting ideas.
